searching high and low for goodness

i have found that when reading a bad headline that bums me out, i sometimes must seek a good headline to balance it (or replace it). for example, today on the drudge report there is a headline about a pair of twin toddlers drowning in a pool. that's the kind of news that makes me feel awful.

so instead of dwelling on the nature of the accident, where the girls managed to open the pool cover and fall in, i turned around and sought a story where somebody was SAVED from drowning. i was sure that one was out there.

and it was ... as a matter of fact, i found more than one. that's the nature of the world: amidst tumult and disaster there is goodness and light. you just have to hunt for it.

it just goes to show that a cpr class can make all the difference in bringing somebody back from the brink. the world is an imperfect place and there is a great deal of suffering in it. but there is a lot of happiness, too.
